Order soma online cheap, There is a peculiar, paranoid style of Jewish politics. Its logic would be shameful and contorted even it didn't come from descendants of the people who invented sophisticated, multi-layered Talmudic pilpul: once someone is deemed beyond the communal pale, Maine ME Me. , an enemy of the Jews, Comprar soma, then you become tainted if you approvingly quote anything he or she has ever written.
When reviewing my book in the Jerusalem Post, Jonathan Schanzer blamed me for citing Rob Malley's thoughts on how the American Jewish community influences State Department policymakers: "The author also does himself a disservice by quoting Robert Malley, Om soma online, who coauthored articles after the collapse of the Oslo process with Hussein Agha, New Jersey NJ N.J. , a former adviser to Yasser Arafat, blaming Israel and exonerating Arafat." This is not exactly classic guilt-by-association. It is worse, buy soma online. It is guilt-by-thought-association. (Actually, it's worse than that, because it completely distorts what Malley and Agha have written), order soma online cheap. Soma online, Similarly, a Realistic Dove commentator once insisted that MondoWeiss, the hard-hitting and often disturbing blog from Philip Weiss and Adam Horowitz, Pennsylvania PA Penn. , be removed from my blogroll. Rhode Island RI R.I. , I have often used this space to argue passionately with Weiss, but have also agreed with him. Either way, buy soma online, his blog often provides information available nowhere else. Soma online stores, Why is agreeing with him sometimes, let alone keeping him on a blogroll, equivalent to embracing every one of his thoughts, bestill soma online. Order soma online cheap, To these thought police, probably the worst sin is giving the slightest hint that you agree with anything that Stephen Walt or John Mearsheimer have ever propounded about Israel and the Israel lobby. My book takes exception to some of their characterizations of the Jewish community and foreign policy decisionmaking. Ordering soma pills, But, in addition, I wrote that while "they got a lot of things wrong..., soma en ligne afin, they also got a lot of things right." To some, Purchase soma, making the latter point was the equivalent of saying something obscene in front of little children.
So now it can be told (take a deep breath, Danny): I OFTEN LIKE WHAT STEPHEN WALT WRITES ON HIS BLOG, Kaufen soma. I think that, Buy soma, more often than not, I am a foreign policy "realist," too, farmacia soma baratos. In his reaction to the controversial op-ed in the NY Times by Hussein Agha and Rob Malley, he wrote almost precisely what I was going to write, order soma online cheap. It was so close, Köpa soma, in fact, that I didn't bother to write anything. The money quote, cheap soma overnight delivery, for me:
...(T)he most significant lines in the entire essay were the last two, Buy soma without prescription, where they write "the heart of the matter is not necessarily how to define a state of Palestine. It is, in a sense it always has been, cheap soma no prescription, how to define the state of Israel." Again, Where to buy soma, they didn't explain what they meant by this, so it's hard to know what they were trying to say.The implication, acheter soma, however, Ordering soma online without prescription, is that Israel still has to decide what kind of state it is going to be. Order soma online cheap, Will it be a modern secular democracy with a certain Jewish character, but where non-Jews are fully equal citizens both de jure and de facto. If so, then two states will work, Oregon OR Ore. , and the two conflicting narratives about the past could gradually cease to matter very much. In the most optimistic scenario, the whole sorry history of the Zionist-Arab conflict might eventually be regarded as a painful historical episode but not part of anyone's future agenda, much as Alsace-Lorraine eventually ceased to be an issue between France and Germany. Or will Israel continue to pursue the dream of Greater Israel, increasingly fueled by ethno-religious claims and the growing political power of religious extremists. If so, then it will become an apartheid state and will eventually face a Palestinian struggle for democratic rights....Needless to say, these different visions will have far-reaching implications for relations between Israel and its neighbors, the rest of the world, and between Israel and the Jewish diaspora...I wish Agha and Malley had been less coy in raising this important set of issues.
He sounds like a left wing, progressive Zionist. In fact, he sounds a bit like Ehud Olmert, just before he left office. So kick me out of the tent, folks. But after you do, you might want to try a daring experiment: forget that Walt wrote one book or a few blog posts that you didn't like, and garner whatever truth he has to offer. The truth is always worth hearing, whether it comes from Arutz Sheva (the settlers' radio station), or Philip Weiss, or Benjamin Netanyahu, or Mahmoud Abbas, or Walt and Mearsheimer.

Order Cialis Online Cheap
Monday, March 23rd, 2009Order cialis online cheap, Jeffrey Goldberg appears to be the new punching bag of left-leaning bloggers and Walt/Mearsheimer realists who focus on Israel and the American Jewish community. After Goldberg opposed the Chas, comprar cialis de descuento. Buy cialis cod, Freeman nomination, my dear friend and fellow-traveller MJ Rosenberg (who wrote the Foreward to my breathlessly anticipated, Mississippi MS Miss. , California CA Calif. , long-awaited book) lumped Goldberg into the same category as Steven Rosen, Marty Peretz and other reflexive supporters of Israeli policies, cheapest cialis in the world, Online cialis, claiming "The only issue that gang has in common is defending the occupation and opposing the peace process." Not true, Goldberg responded, Maine ME Me. , Ordering cialis online, pointing out that, in fact, order cialis, Rabatt kaufen cialis, he has been a longtime opponent of the settlements and the occupation. Last year, Kjøp Discount cialis, Cheap cialis online cheap, Glen Greenwald lumped him into the same category as the gang at Commentary and other "neocons."
I often disagree with Goldberg. But it isn't helpful to consign him to narrow ideological categories or to presume that because he sometimes agrees with Jonathan Chait or Steven Rosen, Texas TX Tex. , Price of cialis, it is never appropriate to concur with him. When Goldberg is right, he deserves credit, and he never seems to get any from critics of the Israeli occupation or America's passive acceptance of it, order cialis online cheap. The following, Koop korting cialis, Købe cialis, splendid post by Goldberg on the IDF's behavior has not gotten the attention it deserves:
The Times reported that the Israeli government believes it must spend more money on "hasbara," a Hebrew word that falls somewhere between propaganda and information, buy cialis no prescription. Cialis, It is true that the world media, generally speaking, Acheter en ligne cialis, Indiana IN Ind. , doesn't like Israel very much, and stacks the deck against it, Montana MT Mont. , Washington WA Wash. , but good hasbara starts with not allowing soldiers to vandalize Palestinian homes and shoot Palestinian women. Public relations isn't a morally relevant category, osta alennus cialis, Buy cialis cheap, in any case: The crucial question is, how should a civilized country behave when confronting barbarism, generic cialis. With barbarism. Order cialis online cheap, Or with respect for innocent life. Pardon me for saying so, but the Jewish people didn't struggle for national equality, justice and freedom so that some of its sons could behave like Cossacks. Please don't get me wrong: I'm not equating the morality of the IDF to that of Hamas. The goal of Hamas is to murder innocent people; the goal of the IDF is to avoid murdering innocent people. But when the IDF fails to achieve its goal, and ends up inflicting needless destruction and suffering, it sullies not only its own name, but the name of the Jewish state. It risks making a just cause -- Jewish nationhood -- seem unjust, and it ultimately endangers what it is supposed to protect.
If those are the sentiments of a neocon, then I'll plead guilty to being a neocon, too.

Viagra Discount
Monday, May 26th, 2008Viagra discount, The scoffers are coming out of the woodwork. After all the hoopla over the new J Street project, in separate conversations, two friends have expressed skepticism about the Jewish peace camp's ability to offer more than token resistance to AIPAC's lobbying juggernaut, Massachusetts MA Mass. .
AIPAC has 100,000 members and its operating budget is somewhere between $40-50 million. Comprar viagra, The J Street organization has a comparatively paltry $1.5 million budget. Other dovish American Jewish groups --like Brit Tzedek v' Shalom, Americans for Peace Now, Israel Policy Forum, ordering viagra pills, Meretz USA and Ameinu-- have a fraction of the resources and membership that AIPAC and Jewish groups even further to the right can deploy.
So who in their right mind can believe there is even a slight chance that we can change anything, viagra discount. One of the scoffers called me "Rabbi Don Quixote." Perhaps he's tagged me correctly. Cheap viagra, But here are some reasons to believe:
1) First of all, the dovish Jewish organizations pushing for balanced, fair and creative American diplomacy in the Middile East are not alone. As I have pointed out a number of times in this space, Delaware DE Del. , they have increasingly worked in tandem on legislative initiatives with Churches for Middle East Peace -which represents most of the mainline Protestant denominations as well as other Christians- and Arab American organizations, including the American Task Force on Palestine and Arab American Institute. αγοράζουν φτηνά viagra, That is a splendid development. Viagra discount, This not just a Jewish issue or a Muslim issue or an Arab issue. This is an American issue, as Philip Weiss keeps insisting. (I disagree with much of what my old friend Weiss writes about American Jewry, viagra online kopen, but he's certainly got that one right). Likeminded people from different faith groups who see no contradiction in being pro-Israeli, Pharmacy viagra, pro-Palestinian and pro-American should be working hand in hand.
Moreover, every once in awhile, the great battleship of the Jewish Reform movement, ordering viagra online without prescription, the Religious Action Center, joins these little skiffs, Rhode Island RI R.I. , and the armada becomes a bit more impressive.
2) An untold number of Congresspeople and their staffers are fed up with AIPAC, viagra discount. I know this because the information comes from someone who understands more about the agendas and moods of Democratic Representatives and Senators than anyone: Victor Kovner.
Kovner is the former Corporation Counsel of New York City under David Dinkins, one of the most active fundraisers for the Democratic party in New York City, ordering viagra online, a fellow board member of Americans for Peace Now and one of the key advisors to the people at J Street. At breakfast last week, Montana MT Mont. , he told me, "Some Members of Congress have felt intimidated and resentful, and have been forced to take positions against their better judgment, out of fear of retribution...."
Then this careful attorney, Um viagra online, who does not say anything without carefully weighing its impact, uttered something delightfully bold, αγοράσετε viagra, knowing full well that I would probably use it here and in my forthcoming book: "I would like to restore the First Amendment rights of Jewish Americans and non-Jewish Americans to speak their minds on Israel-Palestine issues, without being subjected to baseless, vicious calumnies."
His comments gibe with my own observations as well as those of a former Congressional aide, who told me, Utah UT , "There is a lot of pent-up anger. Lots of staff and some Members curse the box that AIPAC puts them in. Viagra discount, They feel like they are forced to take positions that they don’t believe are in the best interests of the U.S. Wisconsin WI Wis. , or Israel...I don’t think that progressive voices in the Jewish community have demonstrated the ability to deliver political and financial support for people who step out."
Asked what would happen if they did provide that support, the former aide, who is still a player in Washington, said, Koop korting viagra, "It might really change the atmosphere around here because they would find Members welcoming them."
I suspect this means that we don't need to make nearly as much noise or donate nearly as much money as the conventional Israel lobby. The angry waters have been rising steadily, Kansas KS Kans. , lapping against the dam, and perhaps it won't take as much effort as is commonly assumed to open the floodgates.
3) If all goes well, at least within a few years, where to buy cheap viagra, politicians will think twice before crossing the passionate moderates who want to give the next president the political leeway to lean on both sides of the conflict, rather than just one side. Buy viagra c.o.d., Members of Congress already think ten times before crossing AIPAC, fearing its wrath if they don't sign whatever outrageous bill or "Dear Colleague" letter is plopped in front of them. But everyone can play that game, viagra discount. Here is Kovner, softer and more politic: "When somebody who might otherwise think that they would receive our support disappoints us on a particular issue, Vermont VT Vt. , notwithstanding our efforts, there is always the possibility of opposing them in a primary or general election...Such activities would be quite ambitious at this point, Connecticut CT Conn. , when we are just getting started. But it’s possible."
Some on the left are uncomfortable with using America's deplorable campaign finance system to promote reasonable policies. But it makes little sense to wash our hands of it, to be Pollyannas, Illinois IL Ill. . Too many Palestinians are waiting at too many checkpoints, too many kids in Sderot and Ashkelon are worried about Hamas rockets slamming into their schools. Viagra discount, We don't have time to wait until the rules of the game change. Order viagra no rx, I say, let's put the fear of J Street into a few centrist, waffling legislators.
There are other signs of hope, buy viagra online. Or at least there are signs that it is not inconceivable to build consequential political support for the next president to be more evenhanded, more active, less constrained by interest groups yammering at the edge of his or her ears. I will offer a few more next time.

Cheap Viagra From India
Tuesday, March 11th, 2008Cheap viagra from india, Aaron David Miller has a stirring piece in the LA Times that deserves to be quoted in full.
A note on my headline:"geshray" is Yiddish for "wail." Other than that, believe it or not (is everyone sitting down. Get ready...), I have nothing to add, buy viagra. Nothing more needs to be said, as far as I'm concerned. Anyone disagree.
The Israel litmus testWhy do so many American Jews demand unwavering commitment to Israel from their politicians, cheap viagra from india. Cheap viagra online, By Aaron David Miller
March 9, 2008'You're nothing but a self-hating Jew, and your boss is an anti-Semite." It was the spring of 1990. I was an advisor to then-Secretary of State James Baker, and I was briefing a Jewish group from Atlanta -- and I couldn't believe what I was hearing, ordering viagra pills. Baker was tough on Israel when he needed to be, but he was no anti-Semite. I told Mr. Cheap viagra from india, Atlanta that if he wanted to argue about policy, fine; otherwise, we should keep the ad hominem out of it. Ordering viagra no prescription, Almost 20 years later, here we go again. This time, a Democratic candidate for president, not even the official nominee of his party, comprar en línea viagra, is under attack from some deeply confused and ill-informed American Jews. Again, the charges of hostility toward Israel are being irresponsibly bandied about. Nevada NV Nev. , Some of this, to be sure, is the seasonal silliness associated with political campaigns. But the persistent attacks on Sen, cheap viagra from india. Barack Obama -- and especially on former Clinton administration official Robert Malley, one of his many informal advisors -- shouldn't be casually dismissed as crackpot commentary, buy viagra cheap. They reflect two troubling reactions, or, more precisely, αγοράσετε viagra, overreactions, within the American Jewish community that undermine its credibility and harm American interests in the process.
First, some full disclosure. I'm not associated with any political campaign and am not running for anything, order viagra overnight delivery. Cheap viagra from india, For nearly 20 years, I worked at the Department of State, under Republican and Democratic secretaries of State, on the Arab-Israeli peace negotiations.
What's more, I am a close friend of Malley, who served as special assistant to President Clinton for Arab-Israeli affairs between 1998 and 2001. Purchase viagra, Malley and I continue to collaborate on Op-Ed articles and conferences.
In recent weeks, I've been extremely disturbed to see him attacked as an enemy of Israel and as an apologist for the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. Perhaps most offensive, several publications have run personal attacks on Malley because his father, order viagra online without prescription, in the 1960s, founded and edited a left-wing magazine called Afrique-Asie, which was friendly toward the Palestine Liberation Organization and other Third World movements.
But so what, cheap viagra from india. Buy viagra without prescription, These charges are ridiculous. There's no question that Malley has been critical of certain Israeli actions and behavior (as have I). He was criticized, for instance, for an article he wrote in the New York Review of Books that took issue with the notion that Arafat was solely responsible for the failure of the Oslo peace process, viagra sale. But he is not "anti-Israel," let alone the Israel hater his critics portray him to be. Cheap viagra from india, He is well-respected by Arabs and Israelis alike, and he believes deeply in the idea and the reality of Israel's right to exist as a sovereign and secure Jewish state. He would never do anything to jeopardize that. Kansas KS Kans. , In a joint letter last month, five of his longtime colleagues (former Clinton national security advisor Samuel R. Berger; former U.S. ambassadors to Israel Martin Indyk and Daniel Kurtzer; former U.S. peace negotiator Dennis Ross; and myself) made Malley's commitment to Israel unmistakably clear, cheap viagra from india. As for the mean-spirited guilt-by-association charges having to do with his family, Utah UT , Malley told the Forward, a Jewish newspaper, that while he loved and respected his father -- who died in 2006 -- he did not agree with him on everything. Acheter viagra bon marché, The attacks on Malley (which are, of course, really attacks on Obama) don't merely reflect concerns about the views of a single mid-level advisor; they flow from a deeper dysfunction. The first piece of that dysfunction is what you might call the "cosmic oy vey" -- the tendency of many American Jews active in pro-Israeli causes to worry about everything, without a capacity to identify what is important and what isn't, Køb billige viagra.
Don't get me wrong. Cheap viagra from india, Jews -- and yes, I am one of them -- worry for a living. Their history compels them to and to be always vigilant. Yet in America, För viagra online, where they have achieved a level of security, acceptance and power unparalleled in their history, their existential worries paradoxically seem to have grown even greater. When Jimmy Carter writes a book -- a bad book, incidentally -- comparing Zionism to apartheid, kjøpe viagra online, many American Jews go crazy. When two university professors, Stephen Walt and John Mearsheimer, New Mexico NM N.Mex. , write another bad book -- about what they call "the Israel lobby" -- many Jews react as if the sky is falling.
The fact is (and many American Jews are reluctant to accept it), the conflict in the United States between Israel's supporters and its detractors is over, cheap viagra from india. And the pro-Israel community has won. No figure in American mainstream politics can be viable without being firmly supportive of Israel. Americans overwhelmingly back Israel's right to exist safely and securely as a Jewish state. For reasons of shared values, buy viagra cod, as well as strong domestic political support, Israel has become an organic part of American culture, religion, North Carolina NC N.C. , politics and foreign policy for Jews and non-Jews alike. Cheap viagra from india, Our most recent presidents, Clinton and George W. Bush, have been the most pro-Israel presidents -- ever.
For too many American Jews, these successes haven't created a greater sense of security; they have only persuaded them to keep up the fight to ensure their good fortune continues, αγοράζουν φτηνά viagra. Too often this means stigmatizing people who criticize, or even question, particular Israeli policies as detrimental to U.S. Order viagra cod, interests or to the peace process or to Israel's security itself. There is a strong tendency even in parts of the mainstream American Jewish community to interpret any such questioning -- of the type that occurs every day in Israel itself -- as outright hostility, cheap viagra from india.
I've lost count of the number of times Jewish activists or friends have said to me that this official or that journalist or this academic must be anti-Semitic. On other occasions, I have been told that I myself should not to be so publicly critical of Israel, lest we give our enemies grist for their propaganda mills, viagra online cheap.
This "us versus them" mentality still runs deep, and it is particularly harmful when it comes to the Arab-Israeli issue. That conflict is not some kind of morality play in which the forces of evil do battle against the forces of light. Cheap viagra from india, It is a conflict in which both sides have legitimate needs and requirements and do both good and bad things in pursuit of them.
To be called an Israel hater for speaking out against Israeli actions when they are wrong and counterproductive -- actions such as building settlements and bypass roads or confiscating land -- or to be called an anti-Semite for suggesting alternative ways of thinking when the status quo is leading nowhere is not only absurd, it's dangerous.
In the end, American Jews who impose a litmus test of boundless commitment to every single Israeli action hurt not only their community but the United States as well. Israel is a tiny country living in a dangerous neighborhood. The U.S. and Israel need a special relationship based on confidence and trust to further their mutual interests -- but that does not mean we need an exclusive relationship in which America acquiesces to everything that Israel or its supporters in the United States think is wise. This is a critical distinction. One can only hope that, next time around, we are fortunate enough to get a president and Middle East advisors who understand it.
Aaron David Miller, who served at the State Department as an advisor to six secretaries of State, is a scholar at the Woodrow Wilson Center and the author of the forthcoming "The Much Too Promised Land: America's Elusive Search for Arab/Israeli Peace."

Cheap Viagra
Wednesday, December 12th, 2007Cheap viagra, At a luncheon panel on Israel and Iran at the Century Foundation yesterday, I was taken aback by some thoughts shared by Trita Parsi, author of the new and highly regarded Dangerous Alliance -The Secret Dealings of Israel, Iran and the United States, and Daniel Levy, the former Israeli negotiator who is now Director of the Foundation's Prospects for Peace Initiative, among other things. Stay with this and you might surprised, too:
Parsi said the rhetoric of Yitzhak Rabin and the Labor Party during the Oslo years inflamed Israeli-Iranian tensions and helped to usher both countries along the path of confrontation, buy viagra online cheap. One of Rabin's principal explanations and justifications for the peace process, Halvalla viagra apteekki, of course, was that peace with Israel's immediate neighbors, including the Palestinians, order viagra online legally, would help to protect it from far more dangerous threats on the periphery, Generic viagra, notably Iraq and Iran. The idea was that progress towards solving the Palestinian problem would make it easier for relatively moderate Arab and Persian Gulf states to help Israel, because it would give the leaders of those states more political cover to act as a buffer against Iran or Iraq, buy generic viagra, and either openly or tacetly ally themselves with Israel. Acheter en ligne viagra, Levy, in turn, said Rabin's rhetoric was mainly a function of domestic politics, District of Columbia DC D.C. , a tool used to sell the Oslo process to the Israelis.
I used to make the same argument just about every time I tried to sell the Oslo process to American Jewish audiences or ghostwrote op-eds for dovish American Jewish and Israeli leaders, cheap viagra. Buy viagra online legally, In 1998, I created an ad for Israel Policy Forum that appeared in the corner of the New York Times op-ed page. There was a photo of a nuclear-tipped missile, Colorado CO Colo. . The headline read something like "The U.S. New Hampshire NH N.H. , and Israel are trying to develop a new anti-ballistic missile system. Cheap viagra, It's called peace." The copy was a reprise of Rabin's periphery theory, and it was all about the dire threats that Iraq and Iran posed to Israel and the U.S. People told me it was pretty clever.
I still think the argument is sound, købe viagra online. But, Buy viagra without prescription, if I understood Parsi correctly, calling Iran an arch enemy and hammering away at the idea that it was an existential threat to Israel only served to alarm and anger Iran's ruling elite. It was among the many factors that helped to encourage Iranian weapons development, kjøpe billig viagra. Ouch, I thought, cheap viagra. Did I, Bestill viagra online, a very very tiny cog in the pro-peace machine, do that.
In the Q&A, viagra prices, I remarked that they had given a frightening illustration of the law of unintended consequences. Oklahoma OK Okla. , I mentioned another: when it was time for Rabin to sell the Oslo process in the U.S., one of his first moves was to try to get AIPAC off his back. So he gave them the Iran portfolio, viagra no prescription, which they eagerly embraced, Ordering viagra no rx, to put it mildly. Cheap viagra, They were actively involved in drafting and pushing the Iran-Libya Sanctions Act and, in a variety of ways, have helped to escalate the tensions that exist today. Mearsheimer and Walt were wrong about the role of AIPAC in the Iraq War, Parsi told me before lunch, buy viagra, but, αγοράσετε viagra, by and large, they were right about AIPAC and America's Iran policies. Had there been no Oslo process, købe viagra, perhaps AIPAC would not have poured as much energy into their Iran-related shenanigans. Order viagra no prescription, My question to the panelists was related to another, possible producer of unintended consequences: America's own "periphery theory," as articulated by the Baker-Hamilton Commission and many other reasonable people, cheapest viagra in the world. The Baker-Hamilton gang -like Dan Fleshler- has asserted that getting more engaged in pushing for peace between Israelis and Palestinians will help America deal with Iran and the mess in Iraq. It would do so by making it easier to establish a coalition of moderate Sunni states, cheap viagra. Buy viagra without prescription, But would an energized peace process also ratchet up tensions with Iran and somehow add fuel to the smoldering fire. (My actual question was less articulate).
Neither answered the question --one of many that were posed to them-- directly, Arkansas AR Ark. . But Daniel did say that, of course, certain players had a vested interest in disrupting an Israeli-Palestinian peace process, and he included Iran on the list. Cheap viagra, So I was left to my own devices, which are not adequate to this task. I will make a shocking confession that will distinguish me from just about every other pontificater on the Middle East in the blogosphere: I don't know enough about Iran to predict the consequences of any action, any diplomatic proposals, anything.
No one who spoke yesterday implied that the U.S. should hesitate to encourage the enduring peace settlement that Israelis and Palestinians clearly and desparately need. Of course it should. Parsi and Levy clearly endorse that as ardently as I do. But they remind us that when we make even a small step in a certain direction in the Middle East, we are playing with forces that could have unexpected effects, with objects that may well collide with each other in unforseen ways.

Ordering Viagra From Mexico
Thursday, November 8th, 2007Ordering viagra from mexico, Apologies for the recent lack of blogging activity. Too many work and family obligations, not enough hours in the day.
Last week, Buy viagra online without prescription, there was a dyspeptic attack on Americans for Peace Now by my friend Philip Weiss on his blog, MondoWeiss. (Check it out at http://www.philipweiss.org/mondoweiss/2007/11/foreign-affairs.html). It deserves a belated response.
In taking on a critique of Walt and Mearsheimer by Walter Russell Mead in Foreign Affairs, Weiss cites the following quote from Mead:
If everyone from AIPAC to Americans for Peace Now is part of the lobby, what, exactly, is the political agenda the lobby supports?...What is the relationship between the internal dynamics of this divided lobby and the politics and policies of both Israel and wider American society, ordering viagra from mexico."When it comes down to it, comprar en línea viagra, Mearsheimer and Walt do not seem to know who, exactly, belongs to this amoebic, Tennessee TN Tenn. , engulfing blob they call the lobby and who does not. Take their own case. They describe themselves as pro-Israel, in that they believe in the state's right to exist..."
Then Weiss responds:
I myself have faulted Mearsheimer and Walt for not being more precise about the lobby's borders. But how easy is it to be precise in such uncharted territory, order viagra online. Ordering viagra from mexico, It's not. Mead himself makes a fascinating mistake in his indictment. He crows that W&M have included "everyone from AIPAC to Americans for Peace Now". In fact, Connecticut CT Conn. , APN is part of AIPAC. APN is a member of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, and all the members of the Conference of Presidents are on the AIPAC executive committee. This is one of the marvels of the Israel lobby: it is a loose coalition, ordering viagra from mexico. When I learned as much earlier this year, I wondered why APN doesn't resign from AIPAC to protest AIPAC's role in the Iraq war, Rabatt kaufen viagra, or in the Syria Accountability Act, or in defending the settlements, or in supporting the Lebanon War. Purchase viagra, But APN doesn't resign. And no one starts an alternative lobby (and when George Soros notions it, the lobby suggests he was a collaborationist in Hungary during the Holocaust and Soros bows out).
This is modern Jewish history. Ordering viagra from mexico, My sense is that Jewish organizations, fearful for Israel's existence, tend to close rank when it comes to speaking to the U.S. government--and thereby allow the rightwing hardliners to be the court Jews, viagra kopen. This cultural/political/institutional mystery is not fully understood by Walt and Mearsheimer, no, but they have done a wonderful job under the circumstances."
So, Acheter viagra discount, is APN part of the cabal. Is it part of the problem. I'm on the APN Board. Am I part of the problem, ordering viagra from mexico. Weiss' argument echoes familiar accusations from the far left against slightly less radical Dems who attend their Party's convention and try to play a role in the drafting of platforms. The same argument is made against anyone who insists on a seat at the power table and then stays there even when they disagree with most of the people at the table, where to buy viagra. Given this country's disastrous Middle East policies, this is an understandable sentiment.
But, Cheap viagra no prescription, like his heroes Walt and Mearsheimer, Weiss is a relatively young student of the American Jewish community, its organizational structures, and its mechanisms of influence. Ordering viagra from mexico, In this case, he doesn’t have the faintest idea of what he is talking about.
Having a seat in the back of the room in AIPAC has not prevented APN from criticizing Congress or the White House, order viagra online legally, or addressing the White House directly. The reason why APN exists is to ensure that the hardliners whom Weiss glibly calls “court Jews” are NOT the only voices. When the Israeli government expands settlements or refuses to remove settlement outposts or takes other steps that make matters worse, Kjøp Discount viagra, APN speaks out publicly as well privately to the State Dept.
Weiss wants American Jews to rise up and speak out to prevent the Bush Administration from launching a military attack on Iran. So do I, ordering viagra from mexico. APN agrees with me and has publicly broken with much of the American Jewish community by calling for engagement with Iran, with a combination of carrots and sticks. Check out all of APN’s statements over the years, pharmacy viagra. Much of the organization’s work has been devoted to counter-acting ideas and people Weiss does not like. But because it is somehow formally connected with AIPAC, he wants no part of it. Ordering viagra from mexico, This is short-sighted. Alaska AK , Weiss does not understand what AIPAC’s “Executive Board” is. Calling APN a “member” of the Executive Board makes it seem like the group is part of a very important decision-making body. That is not accurate. What follows may seem like a pedantic riff on AIPAC’s structure, but the devil is in these details:
Every group in the 50-member Presidents Conference has a seat on the Executive Board, Maryland MD Md. , as Weiss notes. Besides APN, other dovish groups at that table include Ameinu, the Religious Action Center and the Union of Reform Judaism, ordering viagra from mexico.
That sounds impressive, since in most not-for-profit groups, Ordering viagra online without prescription, the “Executive Board” is a small, decision-making body, the people who oversee the staff. The "Board of Directors" is generally much larger and has less influence. But the reverse is true in AIPAC’s case: the “Board of Directors” is much smaller and, generic viagra, along with the staff, has the real power.
It didn’t used to be that way. Ordering viagra from mexico, In the 1980s, AIPAC became much more of an autonomous entity that didn’t answer to the American Jewish community. Köpa viagra, Its leaders wanted AIPAC to answer to AIPAC. As a result, the clout of AIPAC's Executive Board –and the Jewish organizations on that board--was gradually and deliberately diminished. This was accomplished by expanding the Executive Board to include large numbers of individual, major donors to AIPAC, cheap viagra overnight delivery. They now make up the majority of the Executive Board, not the Jewish groups.
The main function of the AIPAC Executive Board is to vote on general policy prescriptions during their policy conferences, ordering viagra from mexico. Those broad policies sometimes do help to nudge AIPAC in one direction or another, Kaufen viagra, but their impact is minimal on the day-to-day operations. Members of the Board also get briefings (at least twice a year, I believe) in Washington on AIPAC’s lobbying strategies and priorities.
So APN, as a group, District of Columbia DC D.C. , has little say in what AIPAC does. But even if APN sits at only a few of the power tables, that at least gives it the opportunity to speak truth to power, Viagra generic, and to know what our ideological adversaries are up to. Ordering viagra from mexico, Think of it as the Zionist equivalent of Log Cabin Republicans.
As Mearsheimer and Walt note, when AIPAC has pushed for legislation meant to impose Draconian restrictions on aid to the Palestinian Authority, APN and a few other groups have fought and sometimes succeeded in eliminating at least some of the most odious provisions. For that to happen, Delaware DE Del. , an organization needs to be plugged in. Membership on the Exec. Board does help in that regard. There are many other examples, ordering viagra from mexico. Generic viagra, The only way for APN to “resign” from AIPAC’s Exec. Board is to leave the Conference of Presidents. There may come a time when it makes sense to leave both. That time has not come. There are a lot of reasons for maintaining at least some connections with the Jewish communal establishment.
In fact, Mearsheimer and Walt offer a few different prescriptions towards the end of their book. One of them is “Convincing groups within the lobby to support a different agenda…In practice, this development could involve strengthening more moderate forces that already exist –such as Israel Policy Forum or Americans for Peace Now—or by creating new pro-Israel groups that support different policies.” Either way, little is going to be accomplished unless the liberal wing of the organized Jewish community is mobilized. And nothing is going to be accomplished by taking cheap shots at groups like APN.

Buy Viagra Online
Friday, October 26th, 2007Buy viagra online, Mearsheimer and Walt write that AIPAC is a "de facto agent of the Israeli government." In various parts of their book, they provide examples of the "Israel lobby's" ability to promote Israel's agenda in the halls of power. Kjøpe viagra online, But they do not seem to grasp a far more interesting, subtle point about AIPAC: it answers to AIPAC and supports AIPAC's agenda, Ohio OH , Cheap viagra pills, which does not always align with Israel's. An article in this week's Forward, cheap viagra from canada, For viagra online, Contradictory Signals From Israel and its Supporters on Saudi Arms Deal gives the latest example of conflicting legislative priorities:
As the Bush administration’s $20 billion arms deal with Saudi Arabia heads for congressional debate, lawmakers are receiving contradictory signals from Israel and its supporters in the United States, Missouri MO Mo. . Viagra prices, Israel’s defense minister, Ehud Barak, Louisiana LA , Buy viagra no rx, told Congress last week that Israel does not oppose the deal and will not take a stand against it. At the same time, Illinois IL Ill. , Cheapest viagra prices, a letter backed by the pro-Israel lobby began circulating in the House of Representatives, demanding that the administration impose strict condition on how the Saudis will be allowed to use special bomb-guidance systems that are part of the sales deal, Kentucky KY Ky. ....While the chief Israeli defense official was telling members of Congress that he sees no problem with the deal, Israel’s supporters in the House of Representatives began gathering signatures on a letter to the president, asking him to put restrictions and limitations on the Saudi arms deal, buy viagra online. Order viagra online cheap, The letter, which is being endorsed by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, South Carolina SC S.C. , Comprar viagra, focuses on the potential threat posed by the Joint Direct Attack Munitions, which is part of the deal, viagra no prescription. Viagra pedido en línea, (emphasis added)
AIPAC, in other words, Minnesota MN Minn. , Oklahoma OK Okla. , is opposing an Israeli policy. This has happened many times in the past, comprar en línea viagra. Order viagra online legally, In Yossi Beilin's book, "My Brother's Keeper, cheapest viagra prices, Tennessee TN Tenn. , " he describes AIPAC officials as acting like "frightened deer" when they were asked to support aid to the Palestinian authority in the 1990s. Buy viagra online, Several, more recent bills for Palestinian aid put much more stringent conditions on the financial assistance than the Sharon and Olmert governments wanted. In 1995, osta alennus viagra, Comprare viagra sconto, AIPAC worked closely with Bob Dole to push the Jerusalem Embassy Act, which embarassed Rabin at a time of delicate negotiations on the implementation of the Oslo accords.
AIPAC does do what Israel wants, much of the time. But it is hardly an "agent" of a foreign government. It's more like a staunch coalition ally which sometimes goes its own way. It supports an IDEA of Israel, a set of premises about Israel, and when the Israeli government disagrees, AIPAC will do what AIPAC wants to do, buy viagra online.
Some of that divergence has to do with the organization's hawkish tilt. But it is also due to something deeper, something about the culture of Washington and the kinds of people who want to --and need to--spend their professional lives nudging the American government to do one thing or another.
An ex-staff member of AIPAC has told me that some of his former colleagues don't really care very much about Israel, they never vacation there, they are consummate political players who could just as easily ply their trade on behalf of the textile industry or big Pharma. It's the win that counts, not the cause. I think that is unfair and exaggerated, but it does help to support a related claim that Washington insiders sometimes make: AIPAC is interested in getting political victories as a means of sustaining its own power and perpetuating itself. That is priority #1, not Israel.
Larry Cohler-Esses, a veteran reporter for Jewish weeklies, once said, "The early Zionists learned that they could help Israel by winning the Washington game. In the 1970s and '80s, the AIPAC people learned that they could win the Washington game by helping Israel."
That should be food for thought for the dual-loyalty theorists...

Purchase Viagra Online
Tuesday, October 9th, 2007 Please check out my new screed in Huffington Post Purchase viagra online, , in which I find myself objecting to one (just one, I promise) of the accusations that are commonly hurled at Doug Feith and his fellow preemptive war fetishists. I spent a long time trying to figure out how to say what needed to be said, which is one reason why I haven't posted here in awhile. Comments would be welcome either here or at HuffPo, Indiana IN Ind. , where I assume 95% of the commentators will be furious at me.
-----------------------------------------
Jewish Neocons Are Dead Wrong, Viagra cheap, Not Disloyal
There are few Americans whose ideas offend me more than Douglas Feith, the former undersecretary of defense who played a major role in planning and promoting the invasion of Iraq. I joined demonstrations to try to stop that invasion and am appalled that the preemptive war fetishists now have their sites set on Iran. But I believe Feith, Cheney aide David Wurmser and other Jewish war planners have gotten a raw deal from those who accuse them of putting Israel's interests ahead of America's, purchase viagra online.
The dual loyalty accusation has become conventional wisdom in the anti-Israel neighborhoods of the blogosphere and has been given academic respectability by John Mearsheimer and Steven Walt, generic viagra. In their new book, as in their original essay, Connecticut CT Conn. , the two profs report that in 2002, "Ha'aretz columnist Akiva Eldar warned that Feith and [Richard] Perle 'are walking a fine line between their loyalty to American governments...and Israeli interests.'" They note that Iraq war chronicler George Packer believed that "`For Feith and Wurmser, the security of Israel was probably the prime mover'" when they planned the war.
Elsewhere, Idaho ID , Juan Cole once opined, "Having a Likudnik as the number three man in the Pentagon is a nightmare for American national security, Acheter viagra bon marché, since Feith could never be trusted to put U.S. interests over those of Ariel Sharon."
Those are very serious allegations, tantamount to accusing government officials of outright treason. Purchase viagra online, Whoever makes them should have incontrovertible evidence. What the accusers have is circumstantial and flimsy, order viagra online cheap. M&W note Feith's connections with "hardline" Israeli groups, his op-eds supporting Israeli settlers and the infamous paper, Generic viagra, "A Clean Break," which war-for-Israel theorists claim is their smoking gun.
Feith, Perle and Wurmser are said to have co-authored "A Clean Break" for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu in 1997 [Feith claims Wurmser is the sole author], Rabatt kaufen viagra. It calls for Netanyahu to reject the Oslo process, get tough with Syria by launching surgical strikes in Lebanon, Ordering viagra online cheap, and support the Hashemites of Jordan in their power struggle with Syria by, among other things, helping them remove Saddam Hussein from power.
That grab-bag of Machiavellian fantasies certainly captures the spirit of adventurous preemption that characterized the Iraq war, purchase viagra online. So what does that prove, Ohio OH . Neocons favored the unapologetic use of military force and the dismantling of foreign governments in Nicaragua, Grenada, Om viagra online, and the Balkans, not just the Middle East. It's not surprising that some of them recommended the same approach to Netanyahu. That they eventually recommended it to G.W, cheapest viagra in the world. Purchase viagra online, Bush does not necessarily reveal anything about their loyalties or motivations. All it reveals is an obnoxious, wrong-headed worldview. Mississippi MS Miss. , If Venezuela had a lot more oil and Hugo Chavez were more provocative or tyrannical, they would want to depose him, too.
Recent, buy viagra from canada, impassioned chatter about dual loyalty and Mearsheimer and Walt's war-for-Israel theory has drowned out a far more important conversation about this ideology of preemptive militarism and interventionism. It gained powerful adherents right after 9/11, Acheter viagra discount, when Rumsfeld and Cheney decided to go after Saddam, in part because they wanted to send the message that the U.S. would not be content with attacking Afghanistan, purchase viagra online. They wanted terrorists and their paymasters to realize that the U.S. would strike its "enemies" anywhere and anytime it damned well pleased, Utah UT . That had nothing whatsoever to do with Israel; it had everything to do with American machismo.
Still, Order viagra online, reasonable people can and do disagree about the extent to which Israel or its American supporters also factored into the Bush administration's decision to wage war. Purchase viagra online, But it is unreasonable to accuse Feith and his pals of divided loyalties without tangible proof.
Last year, I contacted Feith to get his take on the accusations against him for a magazine article. "I confess to being a conservative, bestill viagra online," he said. "I have a conservative view of how to protect and preserve democracies. North Dakota ND , That affects my views of U.S. interests, British interests, Japan's interests and Israel's interests, purchase viagra online. There are problems inherent in the practice of democratic countries negotiating with anti-democratic entities. The parties to the negotiations differ from each other regarding goals, tactics and constraints, order viagra c.o.d.. This applies to all democratic countries, including Israel."
He added, Acheter viagra, "The only justification for going to war with Saddam was that he was a danger to the United States and our vital interests. The President decided that the risk of Saddam's making biological or eventually nuclear weapons available to terrorists was unacceptable, especially after 9/11."
That was a tragically wrong conclusion. Purchase viagra online, Did Feith and his colleagues also believe the war would benefit Israel. Of course, φτηνές φαρμακείο viagra. Because of that belief, did some of them have an extra edge of enthusiasm for the war. Comprar viagra baratos, Probably. But how can anyone who doesn't reside in Feith's mind assert with smug certainty that Israel was his first, second, fifth or tenth priority when he helped make the case for war, Oregon OR Ore. .
One intriguing judge of what was on his mind is Karen Kwiatkowski, a retired Colonel who worked at the Pentagon's Near East and South Asia desk from 2001 to 2003, purchase viagra online. She has written ferocious criticisms of the Iraq war that mention her discomfort at the "pro-Israel, anti-Arab" attitudes of political appointees in the Defense Department and their connections with the Israeli military. But, in an email interview, she called the dual loyalty charge "simplistic, not fact-based."
"The...preemptive war push is part of neo-conservatism, but not particular to those neoconservatives, like Doug Feith...who also happen to be Jewish, " she wrote. "These folks...made their political bones as anti-communists. The so-called Islamists are seen by neoconservatives as the new communism...Neoconservatives wish to see an 'End of Evil' in a big, loud, decisive bang. Purchase viagra online, We see a kind of predisposition for violent confrontation that isn't as much based on loyalty to Israel, but on something much closer to home."
To be sure, in some American neocons, that predisposition was also shaped in part by connections with hard-line Israelis who had a deep mistrust of Arabs and an abiding faith in military solutions to complex problems. In the 1980s, the dedication to Iron Israel, when combined with fierce anti-Communism and a reflexive contempt for anything advocated by the left, created a noxious mixture of ideas. Right-wing Israelis encouraged certain habits of mind in Americans who eventually joined the Bush Administration, a proclivity for shooting first and worrying about the cameras or the UN later.
Now, some American neocons want to inflict this credo of preemptive violence on Iran before Bush leaves office. It is their credo that makes them dangerous, not misplaced loyalties or a lack of commitment to the U.S.

Cheap Viagra Overnight Delivery
Friday, September 14th, 2007Cheap viagra overnight delivery, There is a sentence towards the end of Walt and Mearsheimer’s new book that undercuts some of what they have tried to accomplish with their critique of the “Israel Lobby.” Having rejected the binational, single-state solution as well as Israel’s permanent occupation, they assert: “The United States will have to put significant pressure on Israel to accept the creation of a viable Palestinian State, which in practice means accepting a solution within the Clinton parameters.”
The “Clinton parameters!?”
Earlier in the book, the two professors disparage Clinton’s Middle East peace team and snipe at the U.S. approach to the Barak-Arafat talks at Camp David. They invoke Aaron David Miller’s familiar conclusion that, cheap viagra tablets, too often, Cheap viagra online cheap, the U.S. had acted as “Israel’s lawyer.” They claim that “the American delegation at Camp David took most of its cues from Israeli Prime Minister Barak, coordinated negotiating positions with Israel in advance, buy cheap viagra online, and did not offer its own independent proposals for settling the conflict.”
To them, Ordering viagra no prescription, the whole exercise was just one more example of America’s inability to act as a neutral mediator and make suggestions that Israel does not like. Camp David, to them, cheap viagra from canada, is “the Lobby” at its worst, Viagra en ligne afin, since they include the Jewish members of the Clinton team as part of that Lobby. They question whether the “well-known sympathies” of Ross and Indyk for Israel made the administration “less inclined to bring U.S, cheap viagra overnight delivery. leverage to bear on Israel.”
Yet, when it comes time to step out of the ivory tower and endorse something that might work “in practice, buy viagra c.o.d.,” they opt for the Clinton plan. Nevada NV Nev. , That plan was crafted with the guidance of the very same officials who were supposedly Zionist fifth columnists. And it wasn’t created after Ross and Indyk went to some kind of post-Camp David, 12-step, viagra online, Zio-detox facility and purged themselves of “sympathies for Israel.” [Ross: “Hello, Buy viagra without prescription, my name is Dennis and I’m not a credible mediator.” Other Jewish officials: “Hi Dennis.”]. The plan, which calls for historic painful compromises by both the Israelis and Palestinians, Arizona AZ Ariz. , was the end result of the arduous negotiations that had come before it, New York NY N.Y. , at Camp David, at Taba and in less public interactions. Cheap viagra overnight delivery, At Camp David, Ross, Indyk, Miller, Malley and the others were trying to engender an agreement that the Israeli and Palestinian publics could conceivably accept. It seems incredible that is necessary to point out the following, viagra for sale, but it is not clear if Walt and Mearsheimer understand it: no agreement that was fashioned at Camp David would have had any value in the real world unless, För viagra online, somehow, the Israeli people got behind it and the Prime Minister who was proposing it.
That was, ordering viagra, apparently, Order viagra, one of the main reasons why Clinton’s diplomats spent so much time and effort testing the diplomatic waters with the Barak government before bringing proposals to the table. Perhaps they spent too much time. Perhaps they leaned too far in Israel's direction, buy cheap viagra. I don’t know exactly what happened at Camp David, cheap viagra overnight delivery. No one does, Order viagra pills, including the people who were there. All of the accounts by participants or interviews with participants provide different versions of what transpired. But I do know that, farmacia viagra baratos, for all of his considerable flaws, Cheap viagra, Ehud Barak ended up pushing for an agreement that was well beyond anything the Israeli people had ever been asked to consider by an Israeli government, including the formal division of Jerusalem and land swaps with the Palestinians. It is easy for academics to declare that Israel should do this or Israel should do that and not worry about Israeli politics or public opinion, order viagra overnight delivery. Cheap viagra overnight delivery, Israeli Prime Ministers don’t have that luxury and neither do American diplomats.
It is clear that many mistakes were made by all the parties at Camp David. Osta viagra online, It is certain that Barak's take-or-leave-it negotiating style did not work. Perhaps the Clinton team didn’t have sufficient sensitivity to Arafat’s vulnerabilities and his sense that, especially when negotiating over Jerusalem, pharmacy viagra, he was representing the entire Muslim world. Maine ME Me. , Perhaps the whole summit should never have been held, as Arafat reportedly was not ready for it.
But Clinton and his team deserve a lot more credit than Mearsheimer and Walt deign to give, cheap viagra overnight delivery. While they quote from the Rob Malley/Hussein Agha critique of the U.S, New Hampshire NH N.H. . approach in the NY Review of Books a few times, they conspicuously leave out a paragraph that undermines the notion that the U.S. was marching in diplomatic lockstep with Israel. Malley and Agha wrote :
…One of the more debilitating effects of the visible alignment between Israel and the United States was that it obscured the real differences between them. Cheap viagra overnight delivery, Time and again, and usually without the Palestinians being aware of it, the President sought to convince the Prime Minister to accept what until then he had refused—among them the principle of land swaps, Palestinian sovereignty over at least part of Arab East Jerusalem and, after Camp David, over the Haram al-Sharif, as well as a significantly reduced area of Israeli annexation. This led Barak to comment to the President that, on matters of substance, the US was much closer to the Palestinians' position than to Israel's. This was only one reflection of a far wider pattern of divergence between Israeli and American positions—yet one that has systematically been ignored by Palestinians and other Arabs alike.
It has also deliberately ignored by Mearsheimer and Walt, and that is one of the many, troubling aspects of this book. I still believe it has some merit and that they don’t deserve the complete hatchet jobs that are now starting to occur. But they were manifestly unfair to Dennis Ross and Martin Indyk.
